THE PINT-SIZED FOODIE: An introduction to Supperland’s Weekend Brunch
The latest from our kid food critic

Each month, our 10-year-old resident foodie visits a different Charlotte-area restaurant that’s kid-friendly—but not a kid-topia. He orders something he’s never tried before and reports back with his recommendations for kids and their parents. Here is his review of weekend brunch at Supperland in Plaza Midwood.
What we ordered:
You don’t even have to order! You just pick whatever you want at the buffet! So we tried a bunch of different stuff. (Editor’s note: Seats are $65 per person plus tax and tip, and $25 for kids under 12. Kids 2 and under are complimentary. Brunch is served Saturdays and Sundays, with seating from 11am to 1pm.)
How it works:
You sit at a table and they take your drink order and give you a list of all the stuff at the buffet. There’s also waiters walking around with plates of cinnamon rolls and oysters that you can take. We tried those first, then checked out the buffet.
Why I liked it:
The oysters were some of the best I ever had, and I like buffets cuz you can take what you like and skip the stuff you don’t. This one had normal breakfast stuff like eggs and bacon, but they also had different stuff like steak on a stick (read: skewers) and jello.
What I didn’t like:
That egg thing you got, Mommy (read: eggs benedict). Too much sauce. Also, Brussels sprouts. Ewww.
What I tried for the first time:
I never had jello at a restaurant before, and this was sooooo good! It tasted kind of like orange and lemon and grapefruit but then one of the waiters said it had a pumpkin flavor in there, too.
Why other kids should try it:
They can pick whatever they want at the buffet and go straight for the dessert part if they want. Also, there’s no waiting cuz you can go right up to the buffet whenever you want and that’s good for kids who don’t like waiting.
What I liked best:
My favorite was the steak on a stick. Then the jello. Then prolly the macarons.
Why parents will like it:
Those cinnamon rolls were your favorite, so I bet other parents would like those, too. You also ate a lot of those Brussels sprouts.
Why I would come back:
More jello!
