ROOM WE LOVE: The Pink Side
Alexis Warren designs a girl’s bedroom that embraces pattern, texture, and all things pink

Alexis Warren’s client was pregnant with her second child when she hired the designer to transform a space above the attic into a bedroom for her 2-year-old daughter. She wanted it to be fun and youthful, but it also needed to be a room the toddler could grow into. Warren designed a custom corniced headboard to fit the slanted ceiling, and she incorporated bold colors, patterned fabrics, and whimsical touches like the pom-poms on the Roman shades so it didn’t feel like a typical nursery. “I always say she’s the most mature 2-year-old I’ve ever met in my life,” Warren laughs, “and this is not something that screams, ‘Hey, she’s 2!’”
RAISE THE ROOF
Warren painted the white walls Pink Bliss by Sherwin-Williams, installed new carpeting, and replaced the plantation shutters with Roman shades. “With slanted ceilings, it can be a challenge to not make the room feel so small,” she says. To maximize the space, she had a corniced headboard custom built for the slope. “It’s harder than it looks,” she says. “We had to pull in five different vendors to get it done.”
COVER GIRL
Warren chose Materialworks fabrics for the bedskirt and drapery and upholstered the corniced headboard in Thibaut fabric. The bedding is from Something Navy, the pendant light is Stray Dog Designs, and the desk and chair is Coley Home. She found accessories and trinkets from Cotswold Marketplace and a vintage throw from France. “The rug was a last minute add,” Warren says of the OMG Adrienne rug she found at Slate Interiors. “I love the way it plays with all the other patterns. To me, that made the whole space.”
ROOM TO GROW
Pieces like the vintage floor lamp, the Anthropologie table lamps, and the assorted artwork from Sozo Gallery give the little girl’s room the mature vibe the homeowner was after. “This isn’t like every other little kid’s room,” Warren says. “We wanted it to be really fun and kind of loud, so we led with pink, but still integrated pops of orange and yellow. The combination of stripes, ikat fabric, and hot pink…it just pulled everything together.”
