Pumpkin Fun for Fall

Everywhere you go this time of year you see pumpkin. Whether it is Pumpkin Spice Latte, or pumpkin scented candles, or piles of pumpkins decorating doorsteps, you simply can’t escape the pumpkin. But if you are one of those people that like to be different and stand out amongst the crowd, this column is for you! You aren’t going to settle for plain orange pumpkins. You are going to raise the bar and create amazing pumpkin works of art. The first pumpkin features the trendy white pumpkin decoupaged with fall leaves. If you can’t find a white pumpkin, you can glue leaves onto an orange pumkin, spray paint it white, and then peel off the leaves.
Chevron is the hottest pattern in design right now, so why not make your pumpkin trendy with a chevron design? This just calls for painter’s tape and paint. Make sure you rub the edges of the tape so there is a good seal to make sure paint doesn’t seep underneath the edges and give you a sloppy line.
The final pumpkin idea is to use scraps of fabric. Simple cut them into long strips and coat with a decoupage glue such as Mod Podge, or you can make your own by diluting white school glue in a 2 parts glue to 1 part water mix. Dip the strips into the glue mix, wipe off excess, and then wrap the fabric strips onto the pumpkin until the pumpkin is completely covered in fabric.
Whichever pumpkin design you choose, you will be sure to have the best look on the block. Send us photos of your completed pumpkin project. We’d love to see!
