Where to Babymoon in Charlotte

Best bets for a couples' getaway before baby arrives.

So you're having a baby! You deserve one last hurrah just you and your honey before baby arrives, but you don't have to travel miles away for a relaxing getaway. There are great locations in the Queen City where you can sit by the pool and read a magazine uninterrupted, treat yourself to a spa day, eat delicious food without a high chair at the table and simply sleep or do whatever you want without a scheduling around your baby. Here are our ideas for best bets in the area for a babymoon.

1. The Ritz Carlton

Splurge at this luxury hotel in uptown Charlotte. Not only are the rooms posh, the spa is superb and has access to the Aqua Lounge for a relaxing pool float. It also has a fantastic dessert boutique — Bar Cocoa. It's in the middle of uptown, so be sure to make a reservation at one of the great restaurants with a view. Take in a movie at the Studio Movie Grill at the Epicentre or take a carriage ride through the city.

2. Ballantyne Hotel and Spa

Ballantyne Hotel and Spa is a "destination for relaxation." The Ballantyne Hotel Spa is loaded with services for pampering yourselves, plus there's an indoor pool, seasonal outdoor pool, sauna, eucalyptus steam room, and a lush golf course if you feel like a round of golf.

3. The Westin

The Westin is close by to the Levine Center for the Arts where you'll find the Mint Museum, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art and the Gantt Center, as well as The Green pocket park and Romare Bearden Park that also hosts live music on certain summer nights. Plan to see a show at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center or take in a Knights baseball game at BB&T Ballpark. And again, make a reservation to dine out uptown.

4. Lake Norman

A short drive from uptown is the sparkling waters of Lake Norman. Book an Air BnB cottage for as little as $155 per night, rent a house or stay at a nearby hotel, and enjoy soaking up some sunshine with a cool mocktail by your side before you are living life by the baby's schedule. You can also rent a boat if you feel like a day cruising the lake.
