Strawberry season means spring is finally here! Luckily for families in and around Charlotte, there are tons of places to get outside, enjoy the sunshine, and fill your bucket with the beautiful red fruit. Strawberry picking is fun every member of the family, from toddlers to grandparents. Plan your day, choose a bucket, and get to work selecting the biggest, juiciest berries for pies, jam, cereal or ice cream toppers, or a delicious snack. Many of the places listed below offer special activities so you can plan to stay a while. Welcome to the bright, sticky days of spring. Time to dig in!

South Charlotte

Wise Acres Organic Farm

Strawberry season begins in mid-April at this USDA-certified organic farm. What makes a day of strawberry picking even better? You guessed it: pizza. Cabarrus and Iredell Counties

Carrigan Farms

The 2024 strawberry picking season has begun! Take the 40 minute ride from uptown to pick fresh strawberries and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The farm grows approximately five acres of u-pick strawberries, and no reservations are needed. Check their website in advance of your trip, as hours and availability can change. Patterson Farm

This farm, in business since 1919, hosts activities galore, so plan to make a day of it. 2024 strawberry season dates are still TBA. When all that picking makes you thirsty, head to the Ice Cream Shop for a hand-dipped milkshake. Gaston County

Lineberger’s Maple Springs Farm

Lineberger’s is now open for 2024 picking season. Pick berries, meet farm animals, walk the trails, play on the playground, feed the chickens, and pick up something for dinner at the roadside produce stand on your way home. Just Across the S.C. Border

Hall Family Farm

Hall’s is back for berry season at its new location in Lancaster. As of mid-April, u-pick is open and ready for the public, but check their website for up-to-date announcements. Free activities at the farm include the fire truck slide, fruit chute, bamboo maze, duck races, sandbox, balance beams, and a tether ball. Bush-N-Vine

Springs Farm

Springs Farm in Fort Mill serves up a double whammy of happiness. Start in the strawberry patch, then reward yourself with some of the best strawberry ice cream around. Win, win! 1010 Springfield Parkway, Fort Mill, S.C. 803-548-3939

The Ivy Place

The Ivy Place farm, located 15 minutes south of Ballantyne in Lancaster, S.C., grows strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries—talk about endless jam and pie possibilities!
