CATCH A KID-FRIENDLY FLICK

When you need a break from the heat, head to the nearest Regal cinema for a kid-friendly flick on the big screen. Regal’s Summer Movie Express runs every Tuesday and Wednesday through September 6. ENJOY OUTDOOR STORYTIME

Bring the family to SouthPark Regional Library on Saturday, August 12 from 10 to 10:30 am for stories, songs, and other kid-friendly activities. SWIM IN A QUARRY

Head to the quarry at Carrigan Farms for Open Swim. Take a dip in the quarry, jump off the rocks, swing off the rope swing, and fish in the ponds. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, plus select evenings from 3:45 p.m. until sunset. The cost is $25 per person Monday through Thursday and $30 Friday through Sunday. BUILD A JELLYFISH TERRARIUM

Spend a fun-filled morning at PlantHouse and create an ocean-inspired terrarium. Staff provides assembly instructions, plant care advice, and answers any questions. The workshop is recommended for ages 6+, and parental supervision is required. Tickets are $26 and required only for guests who build a terrarium. The workshop is from 11am to 12pm on Sunday, August 27 at PlantHouse-Charlotte.
