Journey to Oz at ImaginOn Feb. 13

Bring your heart, brain, and a little bit of courage to ImaginOn on Feb. 13 for a special-themed day featuring the story, “Journey to Oz.”
Theatre 360, a collaborative program between Charlotte Mecklenburg Library and the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, comes together to celebrate the connections that can be built from bringing a theatre production to life.
This event is an opportunity for families to learn more about the shows performed at ImaginOn and lets kids explore different art forms. The fun-filled day kicks off in the morning with a special family storytime. “Journey to Oz” will be read along with Oz-themed songs, rhymes and stories. The reading will help support early literacy skills and is a perfect setting for all ages.
At noon, kids ages 5-11 can go behind the curtain for a pre-show workshop led by Children’s Theatre of Charlotte’s professional artists. Guests will dive into the world of “experiential theatre” with a focus on creating an engaging performance for kids to be active in the telling of the story.
Later in the afternoon, “Story Explorers: A Journey to Oz,” will explore the story through interactive activities including the use of science, math, games and more. Space is limited to 30 participants.
Theatre 360 will also host another pre-show workshop on Feb. 21 at 12:30 p.m. and a post-show workshop on Feb. 28 at 3:30 p.m.
“Journey to Oz” will be playing at ImaginOn inside of the McColl Family Theatre. In this version of the classic tale, actors pick audience members to come on stage and play different characters. The show runs from Feb. 19 through March 6. Ticket prices start at $12. Showtimes and more information about the play can be found on ctcharlotte.org.
