WNBA's Ivory Latta to Hold Book Signings

Ivory Latta, WNBA player for the Washington Mystics, is holding several upcoming book signings for her book debut. Latta, who also played for North Carolina Tar Heels, will sign copies of “Despite the Height,” written by Latta and Charles R. Smith Jr.
The children’s book from Warren Publishing tells the true story of Latta, who learned to play basketball as a child, despite her short stature.
“This book is a dream come true for me,” says the five-foot-six-inch Latta. “I love kids and I’ve always wanted to write a children’s book and share my experiences.”
This full-color illustrated book follows young Ivory as she learns to play basketball, perfect her game and outplay her big brothers. Featuring illustrations by D.J. Coffman, the book also includes a dream journal to help motivate students and inspire conversation.
“This is a really fun book,” says Mindy Kuhn, president of Warren Publishing. “It’s perfect for little sports fans who will cheer with Ivory as she learns to play ball. It really captures Ivory’s vibrant personality and teaches kids to never give up.”
Latta is from York County, South Carolina and is the youngest of seven children. She has played basketball professionally since 2007.
