The Counter is a great place in SouthPark where you and your kids can build your own big, juicy burger. Featured in GQ magazine and as seen on “Oprah,” there are more than 312,000 combinations – enough to keep boredom away for the summer. Grab a pencil and the multiple choice menu pad and start making your perfect sandwich.
You can choose the beef, chicken, turkey or veggie burger option in a small (1/3-pound) size up to a whopping 1-pounder, on a regular or whole-wheat bun, or English muffin. Then, start piling on the fixins. Twelve types of cheese, 21 sauces and 30 or more toppings make it difficult to stay focused on customizing your ultimate carnivorous creation.
Little kids love the mini-burgers and fries. And there’s PB&J as a backup plan. I personally go for the small beef burger, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, avocado and jalapenos (can’t get too hot!) with chipotle aioli. If you want to get crazier and stack it sky high, you’ll have to put down some quarters. It’s 50 cents a topping for more than four toppings or an extra sauce. An extra slice of cheese costs $1.
Why stop with just a custom-built burger? Sweet potato fries and onion strings are two of the most popular items at The Counter, and you can order them solo or with your sandwich. They’re divine. We also tried a batch of traditional chili-cheese fries. We gobbled them down without regard for the high-calorie count, and threw caution to the wind by ordering a milkshake, too.
The Counter offers a great outdoor patio for days when the sun is only slightly simmering – a good excuse for parents to sample one of the many fine beers on the menu.
Whether you sit inside or out, burger connoisseurs will find it hard to resist the chance to build their perfect burger.
