Taking on the Fit Family Challenge: Week 3
Falling down on the fitness, but success on eating better.
It took me until mid-week to get caught up enough to give this update on how we did in week three of the Fit Family Challenge. It’s been more than busy at our house. I can already tell these last few weeks of school are going to be the toughest. Tyler, 7, and Chase, 5, continue to get more than an hour of exercise in every day. From playing on our swing set to soccer and football to bouncing at Bounce U, they continue to lead the way in our family.
I didn’t do as well in the fitness area this week. While I still got both of my workouts and a run or two, it wasn’t as consistent as my wife and I had several commitments during the week and a weekend trip to Asheville for a wedding. Week four isn’t going to be much better with event emceeing for each of us, and hosting a party.
One thing that was better this week was our eating. Even though we were busy, we did a better job of eating at home. For me, the worst part of eating out is that I tend to eat too much. I eat too fast which leads to eating too much. I don’t know what it is, but I always over do it when we go out to eat. Chips and salsa, or spinach and artichoke dip is my downfall EVERY… SINGLE …TIME. With more dinners at home during the week, I often eat smaller portions and more fruit and veggies.
Tyler and I will be running in the Steve Smith Family Foundation Lace Up Son 5K Memorial Day. Join us!
