Taking on the Fit Family Challenge: Week 2

What a difference a week makes! With everyone back in good health and on schedule and a little help from Mother Nature, week 2 of the Fit Family Challenge was a successful one.

Each day Kristen, Tyler, Chase & I got some time in, even if it was just a walk or some play time.  My boys even logged their first “bouncing” activity time, which made them both very happy. Getting more minutes also led us to more points for drinking 6-8 glasses of water. The more active we are, the more we crave water instead of the sweet stuff.

My wife Kristen had her college reunion Friday-Sunday afternoon so I declared a “Dudes Weekend” for my boys and me. This meant a lot of time outside. We started Friday with a trip to Beachfest Matthews. We got there before the rides and food started so the boys spent some time playing and running around Stumptown Park. We didn’t get our full dose of veggies that day as we had pizza for dinner at the festival.

The next day, the three of us worked off that pizza and then some. Saturday started with Tyler & Chase’s weekly soccer games, which are an hour long. That afternoon we had a birthday party to attend at Sardis Park that included play time, playing football, baseball and cornhole. As if that wasn’t enough, that night we played and bounced at the Food Truck Rally at Runde Park in Tega Cay. We hit the daily max of 240 minutes that day.

More importantly, we had a great “Dudes Weekend” full of fun and excitement that was more than lying around watching TV or playing video games. We finished week 2 with 3,160 minutes between the four of us and an average of 13 hours each. Sure, a lot of that was play but it all counts.
