CELEBRATE YOUR LITTLE READERS

The Little Learners Literacy Fest, co-hosted by Arnie the Armadillo and Moving Little Minds, returns for its second year at Northeastern University Charlotte on Saturday, August 16. Enjoy free hearing screenings, interactive story times, expert-led workshops and presentations, and local vendors and early learning resources. The event is ideal for families with children under age 7. Admission is free, but registration is encouraged.

TAKE A LEGO PRINTING CLASS

Join other LEGO enthusiasts at La Bodeguita (inside Camp North End) on August 16 and 30 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a hands-on, drop-off workshop. Students will use LEGOs to design and print their own colorful, one-of-a-kind works of art. All materials are provided, and no prior art experience is needed. The class is $20 and ideal for ages 9 to 12. Spots are limited, so register in advance.

SEE A ROBOT SHOWCASE

Head to the Berewick Recreation Center on Saturday, August 23 for a Robot Showcase presented by Queen City Robotics Alliance. Experience hands-on robot fun, meet robotics competition teams, and engage in STEM-based challenges. This free event is sponsored by Culture Blocks, a community partnership funded by Mecklenburg County.

BOWL AT QUEEN PARK SOCIAL

Take the family bowling at Queen Park Social through August 22 during their “kids bowl free” hours. As part of the Kids Bowl Free program, registered kids receive two free games of bowling Monday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Opt for the Family Pass (a one-time, online purchase is required), and parents can bowl with the kids.
