GO. PLAY. SEE.: 4 Fun Things to Experience in Charlotte This Month

IMPRINT YOUR FAMILY STORY
Come to The Gantt Center on Saturday, February 1 for a Family First workshop. Learn about African symbols, including Adinkra and Kente patterns, with artist Ori Jai (aka The Syringa Fairy), then create personalized symbols for your family. The event is from noon to 2 p.m. and registration is $10.
CATCH “DIARY OF A WIMPY KID” ON STAGE
The musical based on Jeff Kinney’s best-selling book series comes to Children’s Theatre of Charlotte on Saturday, February 1. Catch the 60-minute show on Saturdays and Sundays through March 2. On Saturday, February 15, families are invited to a day of free Wimpy Kid-themed activities at ImaginOn. Family storytime is at 10:30 a.m. and drawing workshops led by Charlotte illustrator Greg Russell are at 2 and 4 p.m.
SEE THE RAIL TRAIL LIGHTS
The popular Rail Trail Lights return to South End February 7-23. See nine public light art installations by local artists along the .7-mile stretch of the Rail Trail between Bland Street and Atherton Mill. Artwork will be lit at dusk each night. Bring your camera and tag them on social media @southendclt, #iheartrailtrail, and #railtrailclt.
HAVE A SUNDAY FUNDAY AT PINS MECHANICAL
Sip cocktails and local brews while the kids play duckpin bowling, ping-pong, pinball, and foosball. There’s no kitchen on site, but Bang Bang Burger and Benny Ferrovia’s are steps away if your crew gets hungry, and you can bring outside food in. Kids bowl free on Sundays before 7 p.m. After that it’s 21 and up. pinsbar.com
