HAVE A FAMILY DANCE PARTY
Bring the whole family to Symphony Park on Saturday, June 11 for a Family Dance Party. The event runs from 1 to 5 p.m. and includes games, music, and a $500 dance contest, which consists of multiple rounds throughout the afternoon. Families must apply to participate in the contest in advance; finalists are chosen by the Family Dance Party Committee and notified by June 1. Tickets to the event start at $10 and proceeds benefit The Alzheimer’s Association.
KICK OFF SUMMER AT OPTIMIST HALL
Head to Optimist Hall on Saturday, June 4 for the Summer Lovin’: Kick Off to Summer Event. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., enjoy lawn games, face paint, steel drums, and more. Stick around for music in the courtyard from 4 to 7 p.m. and snack on summertime treats from onsite food vendors. Parents can sip on “School’s Out” Summer Sangria from Spindle Bar and enjoy $1 off Topsy Boozy Slushies and Dimples from Fonta Flora. The event is free and open to the public.
CATCH A FREE MOVIE IN THE PARK
Grab some lawn chairs or your favorite picnic blanket and head to Wilmore Centennial Park for free children’s activities, music, and movies. See Encanto on Saturday, June 4 and Moana on Saturday, June 18. Free activities start at 5 p.m. and the movie starts at 7 p.m. Food trucks will be onsite, but outside snacks are also allowed. PET, PAINT, AND PLAY
On Friday, June 17, head to Primal Brewery Huntersville for an outdoor family playdate. Pet, Paint, and Play runs from 2 to 4 p.m., and kids can pet bunnies and paint while mom and dad enjoy a beverage and start the weekend early. Tickets are $8 and include one personal canvas to take home, painting supplies, a juice box, and a snack.
