Find your family power at the new warrior course and obstacle-challenge center

If you have a child who loves watching “American Ninja Warrior,” make a date to visit the newly opened Kinetic Heights. The 22,000-square-foot obstacle-based challenge and indoor fitness center features two high-elements ropes courses, and a warrior course complete with a spider climb, warped wall, salmon ladder and bouldering wall.

Two high-element ropes courses allow children and adults to build their confidence as they go. The high-elements courses requires participants be age 7 or older, and able to reach 72 inches. Ages 5-7 can play on all the ground elements, including the bouldering wall, obstacle training and warrior courses. In addition, there are group exercise classes, and team-building programs, plus Friday Night Heights adventure programs for teens.

Kinetic Heights is the brainchild of two Charlotte dads, Steve Gruendel and Wilbur Long, who after taking their daughters on annual, overnight trips with Y-Guides wanted to share similar opportunities with Charlotte-area families. They loved watching each girl's confidence and personal strength grow through fun challenges at the camps. They decided to create an in-town, affordable option that gives families the same type of confidence-building experiences. After three years of planning and building, Kinetic Heights is open at its south Charlotte location on International Drive. Its overarching mission: to provide transformative experiences that empower and inspire families to play and grow together.

Day passes or monthly memberships are available. Passes can be purchased for three hours of play during open-play hours. Only 30 participants are allowed on the high elements at a time, and sign-up times are available. Visit the website to see the full schedule of activities.
