CMS School Options Fair This Saturday

Start of the year also means enrollment time for the upcoming school year. Private school, preschool and TK enrollment at many schools is underway. For parents of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools students who are interested in magnet programs, it’s time to apply for the first school options lottery.
The online application period for the first lottery is open through Jan. 26 at 10 p.m; and CMS is hosting its School Options Fair this Saturday, Jan. 10, from 9am-1pm at Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology, 1430 Alleghany St. Fifty-two school options are offered in the 2015-16 school year with magnet themes, including Montessori; STEAM; Internationl Baccalaureate; visual and performing arts; and world languages. Check out the school options guide for more on the programs offered. Representatives from each school option and student assignment staff will be available at the fair to answer questions about instruction, transportation, the application process and enrollment. You can also register online for school options at the fair. One-hour information sessions also are being offered through Jan. 26 at the Smith Family Center on Tyvola Road.
In order to participate in the first school options lottery, a child must be enrolled in CMS by Jan. 12. Find the enrollment application here. For more information, contact the student placement office for assistance from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. at 980-343-5335.
