"Can I Get Out of Bed Pleass?"

My sons are 6 and 4, which means a busy day or a lot of activity can mean a need for a nap if we don’t want to have grabby, angry kids (or grabby, angry daddy) by dinnertime. A few Sundays ago, we went to church at 9 a.m. (earlier than usual) so we could get some pool-time in before lunch and then all of us could enjoy a little afternoon nap. My hours make it easy for me to fall asleep anywhere that isn’t an airplane. I wake up after a few hours to find this in front of the bedroom door…

As you can see, Tyler, my oldest is in no way interested in napping. Or just hanging in his bed for awhile. Even after 3 hours of sun and a lot of swimming. But a bribe? I’m supposed to bribe him, not the other way around. And if you are reading this saying “I don’t bribe my kids,” I respectfully declare you a liar. He played our game on us! I wasn’t expecting this for at least about 3 or 4 years. Boy was I wrong. At least it made for a good story on TV.

We gave him the dollar back but the note will be saved for his graduation, wedding and any other milestones that come up.
