'Better Than Tax-Free' Shopping
Snag back-to-school deals shopping at "better than tax-free" sales.
North Carolina no longer has the tax-free shopping weekend, but some area stores are making sure sweet deals that are better than tax-free are available. Concord Mills and Charlotte Premium Outlets are hosting "Better Than Tax Free" sales Aug. 7-9, giving shoppers 15 percent discounts on already discounted items.
South Carolina is also serving up sales this weekend with it's tax-free shopping sales, giving shoppers an estimated automatic 7 percent discount on select, back-to-school related purchases, including clothing, school supplies and computers.
Banana Republic and JCrew at Concord Mills are offering an additional 15 percent off items, adding up to a 30 percent savings throughout their stores. The 15 percent discount applies to participating stores throughout Charlotte Premium Outlets. Other North Carolina educational supply stores are also offering deals this weekend.
In addition to the sales this weekend, CMOMs consignment sale, one of Charlotte's biggest, is happening Saturday, Aug. 8. University City United Methodist Church and Weddington United Methodist Church are also hosting consignment sales this weekend.
