A Round of Fun

While for some miniature golf is seen as sign of nothing else to do while on a beach vacation, it's always been a highlight for me.

My parents divorced when I was young so it was mostly just me and my mom growing up. We didn’t have a lot of money when I was a kid but we still always had a lot of fun. While for some miniature golf is seen as sign of nothing else to do while on a beach vacation, it’s always been a highlight for me. Some of my favorite memories are of my mom taking me to play miniature golf. Somehow, I always managed to get a hole-in-one. To this day, it’s still the only golf in my life that I ever score under par.

As Tyler has gotten older (6) we’ve begun taking him more and more often. Our new favorite course is Trails Dynasty in Indian Trail. We were first introduced to the course in July by my TV brother Wilson who was doing his “Wilson’s World” segment live there on a morning I happened to be off from work. He suggested I bring the boys by. I decided it might be fun for the kids for all of us to go in our pajamas because it was 8 o’clock in the morning. I wore my Stewie Family Guy Pajama pants. The kids loved it and the ice cream that followed.

When we went to the beach a few weeks ago, my wife and I took Tyler to play at Jurassic Golf in Myrtle Beach. We played not because we were bored, but because we always love to play. I won but the rest of the family wasn’t far behind. Somehow, Tyler always manages to get a hole-in-one. Hopefully he takes after me in that regard only on the mini golf course and not a real one. Shooting in the 120s isn’t too impressive.
