Interactive play is part of the fun at the Rail Trail Symphony location near the New Bern LYNX station.

If you've been thinking about taking the kids for a ride on the LYNX, now there's even more incentive to plan a weekend train ride. Charlotte-area music favorites, the Jolly Lollies are performing four, FREE "Symphony Saturdays" summer concerts June 24, July 8, July 22 and Aug. 19 from 11 to 11:45 a.m. at the Rail Trail Symphony location, 126 New Bern Ave. — just a short jaunt from the New Bern LYNX station in South End.

The Jolly Lollies are the musical creation of singer-songwriters Liz Corwin and Holly Johnson. Based in Charlotte, they are known for teaching early-childhood music in preschools and for leading music programs for Music Together of Charlotte. The Jolly Lollies work to support the emotional and physical development of children through interactive music play. At the Symphony Saturdays, the audience is invited to sing, dance and play along with the musicians using the Rail Trail Symphony's colorful chimes, drums and small performance stage.

The Rail Trail Symphony is intended to be a fun, playful area for people of all ages to interact with while they are waiting for the train or passing by on the Rail Trail. Conveniently located near the LYNX Blue Line’s New Bern station and next to a B-cycle station, the Rail Trail Symphony is accessible by biking, walking or strolling the Rail Trail in South End, or taking the LYNX blue line to the New Bern station.

“I am so excited to be a part of the Rail Trail concert series. I feel like the Rail Trail offers so much to Charlotte. It's a great way for families to explore our city and experience art,” says Liz Corwin of the Jolly Lollies. “This music program is a great opportunity to involve parents in the amazing things happening in our community.”
