Hitting the roads for the holiday season? Here are some quick tips to make your journey safer, easier, and more comfortable.

I covered some of them in my segment on WBTV this morning—scroll down for more. Click to download my Winter Travel Guide—it's loaded with tips like these (no email required).

Car Safety:

1. Check the tire pressure in the SPARE as well as the ones on the wheels
2. Pack an emergency kit, including flashlight and blanket. A "Space Blanket" can also double as a tarp if you need to get down on the ground
3. Good news: a AAA car care center will inspect your vehicle for FREE!

Packing the Car

1. Pack the things you need access to throughout the trip LAST. Much easier to get what you need without re-packing the whole car
2. Pack a small bag with stuff you need overnight—toiletries, PJs, medications—and leave the suitcases in the car until you arrive at your final destination

Creature Comforts

1. Pack a small cooler with healthy snacks, utensils, and condiments
2. Bring your own liquid soap (see my video). Soap in public bathrooms is harsh, especially on chapped winter skin
3. Stretch before you get in the car and during the breaks. A few jumping jacks will invigorate and keep you awake!
