Carolina BalloonFest returns to Statesville October 17-19.

CATCH A SPOOKY MOVIE UNDER THE STARS

Head to Stowe Park in downtown Belmont for a family movie night on October 4 and 25. Belmont Movies in the Park will feature outdoor showings of The Addams Family (Oct. 4) and Halloweentown (Oct. 25). Movies start at 7 p.m. and admission is free. Popcorn, candy, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. 

CHECK OUT CAROLINA BALLOON FEST

Visit Statesville from October 17-19 for Carolina BalloonFest, the second-oldest hot air balloon festival in the country. Enjoy hot air balloon launches, tethered rides, music, wine and beer vendors, and family activities. Launches depend on weather, of course; they happen in early morning and late afternoon. Ticket prices vary depending on the day; weekend passes are $50 for adults, $25 for children. The festival offers free off-site parking with complimentary shuttle service. 

SPEND A FAMILY DAY AT THE BECHTLER

To coincide with the opening of its fall exhibition, “Assembly Lines: Modernism and Machines,” Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is hosting a free family day for all ages on Saturday, October 18. Activities begin at 10 a.m. and include hands-on activities to connect with the art on display. Attendees can receive $10 off at the Levine Center for the Arts parking garage. Admission is free but RSVPs are encouraged.

HAVE DINNER AT THE GOODYEAR HOUSE

Take a break from cooking and bring the fam to The Goodyear House for a relaxed night out. Each Tuesday, kids 12 and under eat free with the purchase of an adult entree. The kids menu includes Chicken Bites, NoDa Noodles, and the Lil’ Goopy Burger.
