Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s 2025 Summer Reading Challenge: Read, Win, Celebrate!

Charlotte Mecklenburg Library invites the community to celebrate a season of stories, learning, and discovery with its 2025 Summer Reading program. As students step away from the classroom, the Library steps up to help bridge the summer learning gap with engaging opportunities for readers of all ages.

Research shows that academic progress can stall during summer months without access to continued learning—especially for children. That’s why the Library is proud to offer its annual Summer Reading challenge, running from June 14 through August 16, 2025. Designed to spark imagination and build literacy skills, the program ensures everyone can read what they love while having fun all summer long.

HOW TO JOIN THE SUMMER READING FUN

Participation is easy and flexible. Readers can track their progress with either:

• A paper tracker available at all Charlotte Mecklenburg Library locations, or
• Online through Beanstack at beanstack.org

Sign up and get rewarded! Just for registering, participants will receive a coupon for a free Wendy’s Jr. Frosty. As readers log their days, they unlock exciting milestone prizes:

• 15 days of reading: Earn a visit to your branch’s treasure box
• 30, 45, and 60 days: Return for more treasure box prizes!
• 45 days: Children and teens are automatically entered into raffle drawings for grand prizes courtesy of our generous sponsors.

Start the summer right! Attend one of our festive Summer Reading Kickoff events happening across the county. Celebrate with crafts, games, and activities that inspire the joy of reading:

• June 11: SouthPark Summer Reading Kickoff – 2:00pm–3:30pm at SouthPark Regional Library
• June 12: Adult Spelling Bee – 7:00pm–8:30pm at Neoteric Brewing Co (Registration Required)
• June 14: Block Out Time for Reading! – 10:00am–11:00am at Mountain Island Library
• June 14: Kickoff Carnival – 1:00pm–3:00pm at North County Regional Library
• June 17: Summer Reading Kickoff – 9:00am–11:00am at Cornelius Library
• June 28: Kickoff Celebration – 11:00am–2:00pm at Hickory Grove Library
