Who’s Ready to Ride the New Fury 325 Coaster at Carowinds?

Fury 325, Carowinds’ newest coaster, is ready to fly! Carowinds opens this Saturday, March 28; and for the first time in Carowinds history, the park is opening daily March 30-April 12 while local schools have spring break.
If you haven’t heard, Fury 325, simulates the daring and spontaneous flight of the hornet, reaching up to 95 miles per hour with a 30-foot drop at an 81-degree angle. I watched this YouTube video last night of a ride on the gigicoaster, and that first drop is a doozy! (I love the expressions on the riders’ faces throughout the coaster!) If you’re an adrenaline junkie, I think this ride is for you, oh and also for the kids who love rollercoasters. I like this review of the ride by Charlotte Observer writer Theoden James.
In addition to Fury 325, take a ride on SlingShot, a second new ride opening this spring. SlingShot catapults a two-person capsule along a pair of cables nearly 300 feet into the air – nearly as high as the Statue of Liberty – at speeds up to 60 miles per hour. Expect a feeling of weightlessness before zooming back to the ground, often rotating head-over-heels and bouncing up and down until coming to rest at the launch point.
Carowinds has also upgraded the park entrance, with new toll booths, more entrance lanes and more parking to ease traffic flow coming into the park. Between now and June 19, purchase tickets online to get the Everyone Pays Kid Price which saves adults $18.99 off admission. If you go ride the Fury 325, let us know what you think!
