Toast to 2020 at the CLT NYE Event in Uptown Charlotte

This free extravaganza will turn the Levine Center of the Arts into a festive party plaza with food trucks, live music, and fun for the whole family.

10 … 9 … 8 …

Count down to the exciting new decade in style at Charlotte’s official Uptown New Year’s Eve celebration.

A free, annual event presented by Ally, CLT New Year’s Eve is a fun and festive celebration that’s great for the whole family.

Uptown’s South Tryon Street will close between Stonewall Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard, transforming Levine Center for the Arts into a festive party plaza marked by the Firebird statue, which is like an enormous sparkly disco ball to mark the event.

Be sure everyone brings their dancing shoes.

To kick things off, a DJ will start spinning songs at 8 p.m. Then, at 10 p.m., Charlotte-based six-piece band Mo Money will keep things grooving until midnight. (They’re the Carolina Panthers’ house band, so you know they’re good). You’ll recognize band leader Ziad as the artistic director for the ever-popular Jazz at the Bechtler series. One of the top musicians in the region, he has recorded with musical superstars like James Brown.

Just as the clock strikes midnight, the lighting of the Queen City crown paired with an unbelievably glitzy fireworks display will steal the show.

The party is alcohol-free, but dinner and desserts will be available at select food trucks and carts nearby, including:

  • Dan Good Que
  • Funnel Cake by Diane
  • Drip Joint
  • Sal’s Roadside Eatery
  • Desi Kati Cart
  • Dunx Coffee

Grab your closest friends and most-festive family members, and ring in 2020 with fireworks, food, and a fabulous evening in the beautiful Queen City. Learn more about the CLT NYE event here.

Getting There

Public parking is available at surface lots and parking decks throughout Uptown at market rates. Mass transit options, including the Lynx Blue Line, Lynx Gold Line streetcar, and CATS buses also will be available. Or, have your rideshare driver drop you off near Romare Bearden Park—you’ll be able to walk from there without dealing with road closures.
