The Toy Test

Toys, toys, toys. So many to choose from, and so many to delight little ones imaginations.

We as editors here at Charlotte Parent compiled a list of our picks for toys for all ages, but the Goddard School also created a list based on choices of some of the most important testers – preschoolers.

The 2013 Goddard School Preschooler-Approved Toy Test engaged children in Matthews from infants to age 6 to play with interactive toys, while teachers observed and documented how the toy rates among the selection criteria. Criteria included how they encourage interactive play, support learning and skill development, as well as inspire creativity.

The result: a top 10 preschooler-approved list of toys. Topping that list is the Tobbles Neo by Fat Brain Toys. Other list makers include Kinetic Sand by WABA, Squigz: Fun Little Suckers by Fat Brain Toys and Tinker Toy 100-Piece Essentials Set by K’NEX.

What makes this project even sweeter, is that Goddard School is donating 100 Tobbles Neo toys to Toys for Tots.

So before you head out to complete your shopping for the toddlers and preschoolers in your life, check out the preschooler-approved list.
