Thaw Out With These Top 5 Things to do This Weekend

If cabin fever has hit an all-time high at your house, take a look at these Top 5 things to do with the kids this weekend. Be sure to call before you go to assure events are still happening and running on schedule. (Superstorm Pax through everybody off a bit, which may melt into the weekend). Oh and Happy Valentine’s Day!
1. “The LEGO Movie” is getting great reviews. Warm up watching it with the kids, but get tickets early as I suspect there may be sell-out shows.
2. If you live a little north of Center City, get a laugh and have so fun at Family Friendly Comedy Improv Musical Variety Extravaganza Starring the Chuckleheads. Expect comedy games, musical games/activities, game show elements, and heavy-duty audience participation.
3. Charlotte Library card holders can explore The Gantt Center for free this Saturday as part of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Day at The Gantt that highlights connections between history, literature and art. There will be story telling and a chance to create your own arts, as well as freedom to roam and check out all the museum exhibits.
4. It’s Sunday Fun Day at the Mint Museum Uptown. This month’s theme: Imagine, Invent, Innovate. Learn about out-of-the-box thinkers, take the Drawing Machine Challenge and make some inventions of your own.
5. Venture to Discovery Place for some red-hot science at Inventors Day. Museum educators will experiment with inventions such as x-rays, PVC pipes, wheels-and-axles, Velcro and a kid-friendly printing press all throughout the day in these ‘random acts of science.’ Take a virtual tour through the International Space Station, learn how to use SONAR and create electricity through play. And be sure to check out the new game show, 101 Inventions Pyramid.
