Play at Freedom Park
Freedom Park has two playgrounds. The one most children flock to is set up beside a parked full-size train engine that children can explore close to the East Boulevard entrance. A sandbox is adjacent to the large play set beside the train, and includes multiple bridges, different sets of monkey bars and slides. There are small slides perfect for toddlers, and then a bigger, twisty slide that’s good for preschoolers. A large swing set offers baby swings and swings for big kids. Benches surround the playground and there is a nice layer of mulch under all the equipment. Be sure to budget some extra time to walk around the seven-acre lake and visit the Charlotte Nature Museum, located near the Princeton Avenue park entrance.
