Happy new year! Whether you’re feeling it’s good riddance to the year past or simply feeling good about fresh start, our January issue has ideas to help you jumpstart 2014 with a healthy, happy family.

Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you can’t be active. Plus working up a sweat is one of the best ways to work through the winter blahs. There are several recreation centers in Charlotte that offer families ways to have fun while also exercising and energizing. See the nine places we suggest to climb, swim and stretch your way into a new year of family fitness.

If you’re in need of a daily energy boost, check out our five tips on how to eat to boost energy. The right combinations of food can give you a much-needed boost. Sounds good to me.

We also serve up some family fitness tactics for kids of every age. All ages can be active with the right encouragement and examples. From a dance party with toddlers to rock climbing with tweens and teens, there’s lots of ways for the kiddos to be active.
