Help Local Students Get a Good Start to School Year

With school starting in just two weeks, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist of the Charlotte Hornets and Uber have partnered to create UberSCHOOL to ensure that students experiencing homelessness will have everything they need on their first day back.
UberSCHOOL encourages area business, religious and civic groups to consider hosting school supply drives for the children served by A Child’s Place, a local non-profit that works to erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education. As added incentive, the first 20 groups to sign-up will receive a visit from Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and the Uber team on August 21, featuring photos, autographs and more.
Seems like a great initiative to teach children about giving to others, and the possibility to meet an NBA player is good incentive! If you have an organization interested in signing up, BUT HURRY, registration closes at 3 p.m. on today, Aug.13. Participating groups will commit to collecting at least 40 school supply items between now and August 21 from the wish list posted at . All supplies collected through UberSCHOOL will be donated to A Child’s Place. Learn more about the initiative on the UberSCHOOL blog.
