Dine Out For Kids Tuesday, June 17
We all like to hear the stories of successful students, but without a doubt, many students in Charlotte still struggle to survive. Did you know that more than one in five children live in poverty, and that there are 53 high-poverty high schools in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools? Communities in Schools exists to help these students who face socio-economic barriers to do well in school, graduate and make better lives for themselves. Its mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life, serving 6,000+ children each year in 43 CMS schools.
You can help CIS and the students it serves by having lunch out with the co-workers or eating out with the family Tuesday, June 17 to support Dine Out for Kids. By dining out for breakfast, lunch or dinner at a participating restaurant, more than 85 to choose from, part of the proceeds from the cost of your meal will help children that CIS serves. “This is such an easy way for anyone in the community to support the students and schools in Charlotte-Mecklenburg who need us most,” said May Johnston, community relations director with Communities In Schools. ” You just need to eat out on June 17 at one of the participating restaurants. With 88 restaurants and locations, there’s plenty of choice to fit every appetite and budget.”
