Charlotte Mom: Maureen O'Boyle

Take a peek inside the life of local mom Maureen O’Boyle and get a glimpse of everyday parenting — from the madness to the mess-ups.

Vital Stats: Maureen O’Boyle, 46
Evening News anchor for WBTV at 5, 6 and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. Volunteers with various organizations, including Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina and the Greater Carolina’s Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Family Tree:
Single mom to Keegan, 10, and two dogs. Lives in Charlotte about 2 miles from the street where she learned to ride a bicycle.

Get Real: I grew up the eighth of 10 children, so comfortable chaos is what I know best and how I live now.

"Don’t You Dare":
We have what I call the "Disney Dialog." It’s what you see on the Disney Channel 24/7 — a sort of shoulders-shruggin’, I-don’t-really-care attitude. It really gets me, because, honestly, it’s not my child, but a TV character she’s imitating. We nipped that in the bud!

Parenting Rule No. 1:
Read the above and it makes sense — No TV Monday through Thursday. NO TV!

Fave Phrase:
"How come I am so blessed God chose me to be your mommy?"

Top Tip:
This is advice I need to take more often: Don’t sweat the small stuff. Embrace every second with your child as if tomorrow is promised to no one. We have this one life … live it!
