Lace up Sept. 19 for the Rock and Read 5K Walk/Run to support Charlotte Mecklenburg Library.

In addition to the 5K, there is a 1-Mile Fun Run for older kids and a Kids’ Dash for all ages. The race is all about family and fun. There will be local bands playing at every mile marker of the 5K, and a festival-like atmosphere at the finish line, complete with a Kids’ Zone that includes story time from children’s librarians, food, drinks and more live music.

The sixth annual race is hosted by The Friends Council, a grassroots fundraising and community engagement group of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Foundation. The goal of the race is to raise more than $25,000 for Charlotte Mecklenburg Library.

The race start and finish line is at the Plaza Midwood branch library on Central Avenue.
