Choo choo! All aboard the 2021 Summer Kids Fare! Leave the traffic and TSA behind because traveling by train has its perks, especially this summer. NC By Train invites families to experience the railways, explore the Piedmont and Atlantic coastal plain, and make lasting memories at the low cost of $5 per child (ages 2-12). That is certainly something to whistle about.

This deal has its last stop on August 31st and tickets can be purchased here. Use promotion code V256 to receive the discount. In order to receive the special price there are a few stipulations. First, travel must be on one of the following days: Tues., Wed., Thurs., or Sat. Second, it only works for one-way tickets. Third, reservations need to be made at least one day in advance. Lastly, each $5 kids’ ticket must be accompanied by one adult ticket.  A “How to Book” presentation is available to help with claiming tickets.

Grab your tickets, take a seat, stretch your legs, and enjoy the ride. Looking for something to entertain your crew? Conductor activity books are provided when inquired about. Hungry? Check out the lounge car with vending machine (Piedmont) or sit down for a meal at the dining car with full menu (Carolinian). Need to meet your deadline before the next destination? Trains have Wi-fi and electrical outlets available for all your technology needs.

Dr. Seuss must have been talking about the train when he said, “Oh, the places you’ll go!” The Piedmont, which includes six trains, and the Carolinian, which includes 2, give the riders plenty of destinations to investigate. Between the two trains one could see the following places: Kannapolis, Salisbury, High Point, Greensboro, Burlington, Durham, Cary, Raleigh, Selma, Wilson, and Rocky Mount (Click on a highlighted city/town to find a summer activity to do while in the area). Here are the schedules for all trains mentioned above. Check ahead of time because just like flights, things can change.
