VISIT CAMP NORTH BEACH

The Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit has gotten a ton of buzz this summer, but that’s not all that’s going on at Camp North End. Take the kids to check out Camp North Beach, a beachy oasis between the Boileryard and Mount districts. Play in the sand, kick back in a hammock, or play a round of bocce ball. INDULGE IN A DONUT

Treat the kids to a baked treat at Fat Cat Burgers + Bakeshop, located in the former Fran’s Filling Station space in Dilworth. The revamped eatery serves mammoth burgers and sandwiches, and it has a walk-up donut window where you can get maple bacon donuts, confetti cookies, and blueberry crumb cake straight out of the oven. Grab a box to take home, or sneak a bite (or six) on the spot. Nobody will blame you. 2410 Park Rd. fatcatclt.com

CELEBRATE JULY 4 WITH A LOW COUNTRY BBQ

Spend July 4 at the Ballantyne and feast on classic Carolina BBQ trays with all the fixins. Lunch is available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and costs $24 per entrée. The hotel will also host a mix of activities throughout the weekend, including a family movie night, poolside barbecue, cookie decorating workshops, and lawn games on the patio. 10000 Ballantyne Commons Pkwy. theballantynehotel.com

HIT SOME GOLF BALLS

Check out Top Golf’s second Charlotte location in University City. The new facility has 102 climate-controlled hitting bays, a rooftop terrace, three outdoor patios, and a restaurant that serves kid-friendly fare like wings, nachos, and flatbreads. Golf bays cost between $27/hour to $49/hour, depending on the day and time, but rates are half-priced on Tuesdays. 9110 Drivers Way. topgolf.com
