GO. PLAY. SEE.: 4 Fun Things to Experience in Charlotte This Month

CATCH AN OUTDOOR LIGHT DISPLAY
Visit the Rail Trail from March 4 – 20 and experience I Heart Rail Trail: Lights, an interactive light installation that returns to South End for the third consecutive year. For 16 days, the stretch of Rail Trail between Carson Boulevard and Atherton Mill will be decked out in colorful sculptures and digital projections that you can explore by bike, scooter, or on foot. @railtrailclt
BUILD A TERRARIUM
Twigs & Figs hosts a series of kid’s workshops in March. Look for a variety of sessions where children can build a mini globe terrarium with air plants; a jellyfish terrarium with colorful sand, pebbles, moss, seashells; and a hanging air plant with moss, driftwood, and dried flowers. Parental supervision required for kids under 12. Find workshop times, pricing, and registration information online.
HAVE A TEX-MEX BARBECUE
Take a night off from cooking dinner and stop by Midwood Smokehouse to try their new Tex-Mex-inspired (and kid-friendly!) menu items. Order some Queso Birriabecue, Midwood’s take on quesabirria tacos; Loaded Queso, a rich housemade queso with chopped pork, brisket or homemade chorizo; and Skillet Cornbread with pepper jack cheese baked in a cast iron and served warm with soft butter and honey. midwoodsmokehouse.com
GO ON A TREASURE HUNT
Head to Stevens Creek Nature Center on Saturday, March 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and follow the Leprechaun’s clues to find the hidden treasure. Choose the short version to stay close to the center, or challenge the kiddos with the longer version on the trails. This self-guided activity is free and open to all ages. May the luck of the Irish be with you! mecknc.gov
