From building mini-gardens to free art kits

BUILD A MINIATURE GARDEN AT PLANTBAR
This Dilworth plant store has everything you need to add some greenery to your home, plus a workspace where you can build a terrarium. (Think of it as a mini garden in a glass container.) They’ve also got a full bar with adult beverages, so Mom and Dad can sip a Mason jar seltzer or a $5 mimosa while you peruse the succulents. Check the website for ongoing workshops to learn more about the pruning arts. 2452 Park Rd., Unit D
BOOK “GYMSPORT JOHN” (TOP OF PAGE)
When your kids have had enough time trapped indoors, hide the tablets and give John Tolbert, a.k.a. “GymSport John” a call. He brings his mobile gym to you and sets up an obstacle course for the little monkeys to climb, jump, run, and get all of their wiggles out in your backyard. The cost is $20 per child for a one-hour session. He stays masked the entire time, disinfects the equipment when you’re through, and packs it all up so you have one less mess to clean. 704.277.6684, gymsportonline.com
MAKE SOME DIY DONUTS
Register for an online class at Sweet Spot Studio and make your own donuts at home. Cake Donut Kits are $55 and include all of the dry ingredients, a recipe card, two silicone donut molds, and a list of tools you’ll need to get baking. Follow along with the class video and learn how to pipe, glaze, and sprinkle like the experts. Kits are available in gluten-free; place orders online for shipping or local pickup. sweetspotstudioclt.com
PICK UP A FREE ART KIT
Starting March 2 at 11 a.m., look for the art kit cart parked outside the Mint Museum Randolph. It’s stocked with free art supplies and instructions to make your own foil face relief craft. The cart will be out everyday of the week as long as supplies last. After dark or in inclement weather, it will be in the museum atrium. Admission to the museum is not required to pick up an art kit. mintmuseum.org
