Cool Stuff for Kids

It is really tough raising kids these days, but you parents of young children have way cooler stuff than I did when my kids were little. Here are three things that I WISH I had:

1. Branch Bookcase – It is my hope that today’s kids will not miss the opportunity to hold a real book in their hands. I appreciate the ease and long term affordability of E-Readers, but there is something sensual about reading a book and having to turn the page. This bookcase, designed by Shawn So would look great in any boy’s or girl’s room and might encourage you to keep the books coming.

2. Time Out Timer Stool – This completely simplifies the time out period. It negates the child’s need to constantly ask if they can get out of time out. They will know by looking at it whether or not their time is up. It will also prevent busy parents from getting sidetracked and “forget” that time out was over. I might know of a parent who’s child got left in time out too long simply by oversight.

3. Crypton Fabric on Furniture – Even with sippy cups my sofas and chairs still managed to get stained from juice spills and food drops. If Crypton Super Fabric had been around when my kids were young I would have covered every piece of furniture in the house with it!

Parents and kids have some pretty awesome products, but I still think raising kids is much more challenging in today’s society than when I was raising my 21 and 27 year olds.  Where do you stand? Do you think it is easier or harder to raise kids now? I’d love to hear what you think…
