Carolina Harbor Waterpark opens Saturday, May 20 and has something for every age set.

The timing couldn't be better! As temperatures across the Queen City are tipping over the 90 degree mark, Carowinds Carolina Harbor Waterpark is opening for the 2017 summer season this Saturday, May 20.

Carolina Harbor Waterpark is nestled right between North and South Carolina at Carowinds. The waterpark boasts 27-acres of splash adventures including a six-story water slide, two wave pools and a two-acre family area guaranteed to cool guests off in the summer heat.

Nominated as one of USA Today’s Top 10 Best Outdoor Water Parks in the US, Carolina Harbor has attractions for every water lover. Guests can spend the day enjoying thrilling water attractions, mouth-watering food or simply basking in the Carolina sun.

How to Enjoy Carowinds Carolina Harbor Waterpark With a Baby

Thrillseekers can check out Blackbeard’s Revenge, the flagship six-story waterslide complex. If that’s too fast and furious, surfers can ride the gnarly six-foot waves at Surf Club Harbor, our 27,000 square-foot wave pool. While the older kids can enjoy the rockin’ waves, beginner swimmers can get their feet wet at the water geysers on the shore of the wave pool.

Far from the seas of the wave pools, children can play at Kiddy Hawk Cove and Myrtle Turtle Beach, two-acres of fun made just for the little ones. I visited Myrtle Turtle Beach with my almost 1-year-old last summer. Rent a cabana for shade and as a great place to retreat and revive throughout the day. See my other tips on how to make the most of your day with a tot at the waterpark here.

I also ventured down some of the big slides with my 6-year-old son. He loved the raft action on Hurricane FallsSeaside Splashworks and Pirate's Landing and was great for sitting on the sidelines watching him go get soaked with a friend.

Admission to Carolina Harbor is included with a Carowinds admission ticket or season pass. We doubled up and did some Carowinds fun early in the day and then hit the waterpark later in the day. It's a lot to do, and you can certainly enjoy just one or the other for a full day.

Use the Carowinds app or visit Carowinds' website for amusement and waterpark hours, to purchase tickets.
