A Gingerbread House Wonderland
Holiday Treat Takes New Shape at National Gingerbread House Competition

In its 24th year, the National Gingerbread House Competition held at The Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville welcomes culinary artists of all skill levels, including children ages 5-8, youths ages 9-12 and teens, to craft gingerbread masterpieces for the annual competition. Applications for the highly anticipated gingerbread celebration are being accepted through Friday, Nov. 4.
With more than $20,000 in cash and prizes on the line, gingerbread houses are judged on overall appearance, originality and creativity, difficulty, precision, and consistency of theme. The intricate designs must be constructed entirely of edible materials, of which 75 percent must be gingerbread. An elite panel of world-renowned pastry chefs, artists and media experts, judges the gingerbread houses. Winners are announced at an award ceremony Nov. 21, and the gingerbread masterpieces are on display at the property from Nov. 27 through Jan. 5, 2017 for public viewing.
