Sample local cuisine to your heart's content from these popular food truck rallies around town.

If you’re a foodie, or one who just likes to get out in the warmer weather months and socialize while sampling a variety of food and beverages, you’re probably a fan of food truck rallies. Luckily, the food truck craze has exploded in the Charlotte area in the past few years, and business is booming. The city and several of its surrounding suburbs offer food, festivities, and often outdoor movies as part of the experience. Here are a few you should check out.

1. Food Truck Fridays in Plaza Midwood

Formerly set up at Camden Road and Park Avenue, this rally has a new Plaza Midwood location this year. The plan is to rotate a number of different food trucks into the weekly event, which kicked off at the beginning of this month and will run through the end of October. 5-9pm. Central Avenue, behind The Light Factory.

2. Festival of Food Trucks

Further north of Charlotte, this monthly rally located in the heart of downtown Mooresville ties in live music, shopping at the nearby local stores, kids’ activities, and at least ten different food trucks. Get there early—the first event last weekend had such a large turnout that many of the trucks ran out of food. Monthly through mid-October. 5-8:30pm. North Main St., Between Moore and Iredell Avenues, Mooresville.

3. Matthews Food Truck Fridays

Food Truck Fridays started up this month and run through the end of September and features numerous food trucks and live music. No pets or alcohol or allowed. Note: The event will not take place on May 13 or May 20. Mark your calendar now for the Charlotte Food Fight 2016 event next month. Stumptown Park, 120 S. Trade St., Matthews.
