Dad Page - Charlotte-Area Dads Talk Sports, Kids and Family Life

The average dad doesn't just do football games anymore. Today fathers are carpooling, shuttling kids to ballet, attending PTA meetings, changing diapers and more. We've got helpful tips from dads here in Charlotte and surrounding areas, as well as heartfelt stories to inspire and useful resources to help make parenting easier. Each month we'll feature a new dad who shares his thoughts on parenting from the other side.

Check out blogs from our partners Richard and Barry from A Dude's Guide. They share some good advice from the dad perspective and pass along a lot of laughs too! Listen in on their conversations through their Dudecast, below.

Charlotte Area Dads Speak Out

Charles Horner

Name: Charles Horne

Family: Wife, Christy, and 2 children, Hampton, 8, and Liza, 6
Lives in Charlotte and is a market leader for a Management Consulting firm.

Outside of your family, what is your passion, or what makes you tick?

I can't play enough golf but also really enjoy cooking and entertaining friends at home.

What's your favorite team?

Duke basketball and Carolina Panthers

What was your first thought when you held your brand new baby?

As happy as I was, I realized my parents were as much so, they were crying too! Then I quickly realized Christy and I just became the second and third most important members of the family.

What's the best thing about being a dad?

Having the two closest people to me be engaging, positive and confident kids who (for now) love being around their parents and actually think we are cool. This won't last forever but it sure is the best now!
