Summary: Shatter your notions about dinosaurs and take a journey of discovery. This amazing exhibition focuses on dinosaurs not as fossils but as living creatures. The colossal 6,500-square-foot exhibition, which includes a diorama of a 130-million-year-old forest in China. View a fossil cast from Sinornithosaurus millennii that exhibits both downy fluff and primitive feathers. See a fossil of the foot of a Coelophysis and watch an animatronic T. Rex walk in place. This interactive exhibition addresses many persistent and puzzling dinosaur mysteries, but at its heart are questions about how one of the most captivating creatures of all time lived... and died.

The Art of Craft: 1830

The Civil War.

Summary: Interested in learning more about the Civil War? During this program, The Confederate History and Monument Preservation Society who portrays Company H of the 23rd NC troops will have a display setup, be on hand to answer questions about the Civil War, and give firing and drilling demonstrations. In honor of North Carolina Confederate Memorial Day at 1pm, there will be a wreath laying ceremony on the Confederate Marker in Dallas, NC. At 2pm, there will be a special presentation by Jeremie England entitled “Civil War Soldiers of Gaston County.” Come join us for this unique free program!

Toy Time: Larger-Than-Life Folk Toys

CALENDAR POLICY

Charlotte Parent magazine’s calendar provides information for parents and families about activities they can enjoy each month. Events listed in the calendar are typically free or low-cost activities targeted to parents or families. The calendar will also include annual or featured events that may require paid admission, but are decided to be important community or entertainment attractions applicable to families and kids. Examples: holiday events, parades, street fairs, weekend festivals, local children’s plays or children’s character concerts.

To submit your event, e-mail, mail or fax your event's name, date, time, location, cost, contact phone number, Website and a short description. Include electronic images if available.

Submissions must be received by the 8th of the preceeding month to be included in the print calendar. For example, information for a February event must be in our office before January 8. Events received later than the 8th will be posted in the online calendar in a timely manner throughout the month.

All submissions will be considered for publication. Inclusion is based on editorial space and event relevance at the discretion of the editor.
