6 Tips for a Productive Parent-Teacher Conference
Use these tips to get the most out of that one-on-one time with your child’s teacher.
October is parent-teacher conference time. Most parent-teacher conferences are 30 minutes each. Use these tips to get the most out of that one-on-one time with your child’s teacher.
1 | Leave the kids at home. You don’t want an antsy child distracting you.
2 | Know what you want to know. Teachers are prepared to share information, but be ready with any questions you have for the teacher.
3 | Save the small talk. Time goes fast, so keep the conversation focused. Request another meeting if you don’t cover everything.
4 | Be on time. Most teachers schedule conferences back-to-back, so if you are late, that is your time lost.
5 | Take notes. Expect to hear a lot of information about curriculum goals, test scores and assessments.
6 | Ask how you can help. Inquire about how you can create a plan for your child at home to help make things better at school.
