tapestries and rugs designed by artists usually associated with painting, sculpture, and architecture. Examples of the more familiar media will be installed alongside the textiles. The Bechtler holds excellent examples of textiles by Alexander Calder, Le Corbusier, Diego Giacometti, Fernand Léger, Roy Lichtenstein, Joan Miró, and Pablo Picasso.

Have a silly play date at the latest exhibit at ImaginOn. Designed to develop school readiness and academic skills for young children, Mr. Potato Head leads visitors on adventures ranging from jungle safaris to archeological digs. The exhibit is recommended for children ages 3-8. Mon.-Thurs., 9 a.m.-8 p.m.; Fri.-Sat., 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

1929 STRIKE: A Community Divided

Gaston County Museum of Art and History

This event occurs weekly, on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Exhibit explores the 1929 Loray Mill Strike, including why strikers chose to organize with the National Textile Workers Union (NTWU) and how the strike influenced mills across the country. The exhibit brings to life the living and working conditions of mill workers in Gaston County.

NASCAR Hall of Fame

Richard Childress Racing and the NASCAR Hall of Fame will launch an exhibit to honor the 50th anniversary of Richard Childress Racing using artifacts, race cars, images and audio/video displays.
