The art at the site was designed by Illuminaries.
From charity events to public art, the effects of All-Star Weekend continue beyond Sunday night’s game. And1's "Paint the Park" initiative came to Cordelia Park last week and revitalized the basketball court. The project was spearheaded by Illuminaries, a traveling group of street artists hailing from the Bay Area. Former NBA player Kevin Garnett, who's now global ambassador and creative director for AND1, led an event on Saturday to mark the transformation, with local officials in tow.
The project also involved local kids in the process. This is the third park across the U.S. to get a makeover from this initiative, with one recent project in Compton. The 24-acre Villa Heights park also has playgrounds, a popular outdoor swimming pool, a sprayground, trails, and more.
